Buying or selling a home can be the biggest financial transaction you will make. Katz Family Home Inspection assesses homes to be purchased for buyers, as well as for sellers looking to sell their home. A professionally conducted home inspection can alert you to issues or deficiencies that might be overlooked. Additionally, a quality inspector will inform the client about seasonal or annual maintenance tasks and about the quality attributes of the home. We hold the highest levels of certification in home inspection (EBPHI / NHIE) and radon measurement (AARST / NRPP). We pride ourselves in approaching each inspection in a professional and thorough manner. Our aim is to assess and report the findings of the inspection in a complete, understandable, and reasonable way.

Safety, Health, and Piece of Mind
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer next to smoking and the number one cause of lung cancer for non-smokers. The MN Department of Health reports that approximately 40% of homes in Minnesota have a dangerous level of this radioactive gas. Additionally, MNDH also reports that the state-wide average in Minnesota is three times higher than the national average.
Sewer line damage can cause backups into your home and result in repair and replacement costs that run into tens of thousands of dollars. Evaluating the sewer line prior to purchasing a home or checking the health of your system as an existing homeowner is a very prudent step.
Molds have the potential to cause health problems. Molds produce allergens (substances that can cause allergic reactions) and irritants. Inhaling or touching mold or mold spores may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. During our home inspection, there will always be a visual evaluation of the home, at no charge, to look for obvious mold growth. Families with members that are very young, very old, and those who have health issues should consider digging deeper by having an indoor air quality test done.
